December 2006
I have previously mentioned this project on my blog, and this post is simply to share the current status of it.
Promoting standards
Webdesignbook.net is made to promote web designers who has web standards and semantic markup in mind when designing and coding.
In fall 2006 a books is made to immortalize the 150 best webdesigns - look at it as it is prestige to be included in the book. A design and technical judgement panel will be established to ensure that the right webdesigns are picked out.
The book will include contact information to the designers, interviews etc. and will be a great tool for companies who is looking for the best of the best - either to hire them to full time job, or for single projects.
Current status
As I write this, 635 valid websites has been submitted to the project, of which 303 have received enough votes to be considered for the book.
I am now trying to establish the judgement panels, and trying work out the best way to pick out the right 150. The looks isn’t everything, the coding weighs just as much.
I have received a great amount of donations, so the book printing should be easier to fund - but still I am looking for a head sponsor/partner to help funding the printing and promotion.
The future
The project was started with an annual event in mind, if the upcoming book is a success, the event will be continued once every year. So the head sponsor/partnership I look for will hopefully continue for a long time.
Besides the book, the plan is also to release it as an e-book, that will be priced so everyone can afford it.
Now
If you want to assure that you have a chance of being picked out for the book, please consider submitting it soon, as there will be closed down for further submissions soon. When further submissions is closed down, voting will stay open for 1-2 weeks, before the judges picks out the 150 final webdesigns.
If you or your company might be interested in a partnership/sponsorship, please contact me and let us work something out. aşk
